Our longstanding partnership with St. Luke’s Hospital supported a thoughtful, multi-phased transformation of their campus—balancing growth with operational continuity. Beginning over a decade ago, Phase 1 established the foundation with the construction of Building A, which was later expanded to include a new emergency department, cardiac catheterization lab, ambulance bay, helipad, and structured parking.
Phase 2 focused on vertical expansion, relocating the hospital’s intensive care and cardiac care units atop Building A and repositioning the helipad to the new roof. This milestone paves the way for Phase 3: a horizontal expansion to replace aging clinic infrastructure and to extend the newly constructed bed towers, ensuring continuity of care for future generations.
The vertical expansion at St. Luke’s Hospital required careful planning to modernize critical care services within an active hospital environment. The need to relocate and upgrade the ICU and CCU stemmed from outdated infrastructure, space limitations, and inefficient clinical workflows. Enhancing flexibility for evolving care models and improving patient-to-staff ratios were key priorities.
Tight site constraints and proximity to occupied areas demanded meticulous construction phasing to minimize disruption. Seamless clinical coordination was also essential—aligning design with staff workflows, ensuring connectivity to existing systems, and maintaining operational readiness throughout.
Despite these complexities, the team delivered a solution that met clinical goals, supported future growth, and advanced the hospital’s long-term strategic vision.
