To meet community needs for tech-savvy, urban professionals, Rush University Medical Center launched a new clinic concept in Chicago’s vibrant River North neighborhood. The goal: deliver a seamless healthcare experience that mirrors the accessibility, design, and convenience of modern retail, while enabling flexibility for future innovations in ambulatory care.
After a focused market assessment, ERDMAN identified a high-visibility location, formerly a restaurant, and designed a clinic environment that merges efficiency, digital integration, and adaptability. The resulting space is a thoughtfully-renovated urban setting that balances clinical excellence with consumer expectations—enhancing brand appeal, supporting Rush’s broader growth strategy.
Today, the clinic serves as both a destination for care and a model for what healthcare delivery can look like in dense, design-conscious urban markets.
ERDMAN’s Integrative Thinking approach was unlike any we have come across, and was integral to our success. They created a market attractiveness index that informed our location decision and growth plan. They provided us with an operational model that could legitimately compete with our biggest competitors, and held full-day workshops and collaborative meetings with stakeholders to illustrate how it could be executed. This thought-out, hands-on approach was exactly what our organization needed. Our volume and other performance metrics have exceeded expectations for the first year in operation.
