With musculoskeletal services historically available through area health systems, the Orthopaedic Institute of Western Kentucky set out to offer something different: a focused, high-performance environment solely dedicated to orthopaedic care. Their vision was to create a comprehensive destination that would consolidate services, enhance patient access, and reflect the spirit of the community through bold, modern design.
Partnering with ERDMAN, the Institute developed a facility that brings outpatient clinic visits, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, rotating specialty care, and spine urgent care under one roof. The design balances clinical functionality with regional character, blending contemporary architecture and warm materials that resonate with the local landscape.
The result is a vibrant hub for orthopedic health—streamlined for efficiency, designed for healing, and built to support the Institute’s long-term vision for growth and community impact.
Throughout the planning process, the institute’s owners were highly involved, and all meetings were strategic and organized. ERDMAN displayed a high level of professionalism and took our concerns seriously. No question went unanswered. Everything was extremely well communicated, with very few items unexpected or not anticipated… Most importantly, [the new facility] is a place where patients feel at home.
