ERDMAN Receives Design Award for Northwest Community Healthcare Women’s Center

MADISON, WIS. –

We are proud to announce ERDMAN was awarded the IIDA-Wisconsin Celebrate In Design – 2022 Award of Excellence: Creative Feature for the Northwest Community Healthcare Women’s Center. Each year, the Celebrate In Design awards honor innovative solutions and outstanding design by IIDA Wisconsin members and firms.

The vision for The Women’s Center was to discard the clinical feel of a hospital and design based on the sensory experiences that enrich the quality of each visit. Northwest Community Healthcare envisioned a space that was earthy, harmonious, temporal, and tactile. The specialty radial ceiling feature emphasizes passive wayfinding, aids with flow, and provides naturally guided sightlines for visitors. This custom ceiling allowed us to generate an architectural vocabulary and translate our story to the built environment. Ease of navigation through The Women’s Center, as well as a meandering flow, was particularly important to maintain. By providing pockets of space that patients could discover, they are able to personalize their experience while continuing to uncover details all while ensuring consistency in the overall design.
