The University of Maryland-Upper Chesapeake Health (UM-UCH) is transforming health care for the area with its Aberdeen Campus. To strengthen its commitment to the community, the project will help UM-UCH expand its services, improve access to care, and increase efficiency to offer more affordable healthcare. The goal is to also support the coordination between hospital-based and community care providers, plus implement new care models supported by state-of-the-art technology.
The project scope includes a freestanding medical facility, behavioral health pavilion, and medical office building. Together, these healthcare facilities offer comprehensive services to support behavioral health patients ranging from crisis and inpatient care to outpatient therapeutic treatment. The Aberdeen Campus will also offer general acute care to the community. As the local populations have very different needs for emergency treatment, the project will create an environment that allows for specialized behavioral health emergency care, while also enhancing staff efficiency.
