APPROACH / OUTCOME

The emergency services expansion at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s (LVHN) Cedar Crest Hospital is the latest expression of LVHN’s commitment to provide the highest level of care to the communities it serves. Goals included increasing capacity, providing the latest technology, and improving patient, family, and provider experiences.

This 160,000-square-foot expansion is comprised of separate adult and pediatric emergency department care spaces, new observation units, and trauma care spaces. Special features include spacious waiting areas to provide ample distancing, plus conveniences such as a café and on-site imaging, diagnostics, and pharmacy services. Its new, highly efficient operational model enhances speed to care. Additionally, large observational units offer enhanced care and flexibility.

The new pediatric emergency services department doubles LVHN’s capacity to care for kids. Designed specifically for children and their families, each new room is equipped for any type of treatment and all levels of care, including the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the region qualified in pediatric trauma.
