Dean Health identified the need to expand services for the growing community of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Because of site constraints at its then current clinic, Dean opted to rebuild at a new location. But rather than follow its historical pattern for clinic design, Dean saw the new facility as an opportunity to advance its lean methods initiative and incorporate a patient-centered medical home model. A successful new clinic for Dean would accomplish the following:
With ERDMAN leading the way, a diverse group of participants, including staff as well as community members, went through a week-long 2P (process planning) event involving design charrettes and physical mock-ups of potential clinic spaces. ERDMAN’s integrated services allowed options to be priced quickly and conveniently as the design plan moved closer to the construction phase. Subcontractor use was 100% Wisconsin-based. An attractive, welcoming clinic that fits beautifully into the surrounding area now stands as a gateway to the city of Waunakee. From the beginning, the Dean-ERDMAN team focused on creating a positive patient experience. The new clinic now offers a space where those efforts pay off every day.
