HealthPartners Medical & Dental Clinic

IDENTIFIED CHALLENGES

HealthPartners Medical and Dental Clinic in Sartell serves the greater St. Cloud area of Minnesota. HealthPartners is the largest consumer-governed not-for-profit healthcare system in the country. When it recognized the need for expansion at its Sartell location, it also had to confront the reality that the site simply wouldn’t allow it. After selling its existing clinic, HealthPartners required a speed-to-market approach for a new facility, one that would enable market share growth and expanded services. Additional objectives for the new clinic included the following:

  1. Establish a more prominent location in the area
  2. Create not only a larger facility to accommodate physician growth needs but one that would dramatically increase operational efficiency
  3. Elevate facility equipment and technology to a state-of-the-art level and set the stage for more technologically advanced modes of care

APPROACH / OUTCOME

HealthPartners selected ERDMAN for site selection, design and construction services. ERDMAN commenced planning services immediately upon selection and initiated an extensive community-wide site search. Our integrative services ultimately helped expedite the project to meet the schedule demands of HealthPartners. Project outcomes include the following:

  1. An exceptional new site location, one that has significantly increased the visibility of HealthPartners in the region
  2. A sizable patient volume increase (9%)
  3. A 63,000-square-foot, operationally efficient facility completed ahead of schedule and under budget
  4. A flexible floor plan that conveniently enables the eventual doubling of current providers and the continued expansion of services
  5. Innovative platform technology for eventual video/web-enabled care

The prominent and attractive new facility has been instrumental in generating more patients and invigorating clinic staff. Its design allows for continued smart growth for HealthPartners and enables it to take on the latest IT developments in healthcare, an important factor for an organization that was named among the “Most Wired” in the U.S.
